Pretty good. It was fun and the pizza was really yummy. And all the other speakers were really cool and I thought it was awesome to meet all of them. Also, now I’m not as scared to talk to other people or to go up on stage and stuff.
Why did you apply to be a speaker?
Because I thought it would be cool to share my story and pass my message on to a large group of people.
How has life changed since TedxKidsBC last year?
I’ve done a lot more speaking engagements and been more confident in having conversations with people in my every day life.
What advice would you give to the 2016 upcoming speakers?
I would say don’t worry too much about it. You’ll do really great and just focus more on telling a story and having fun.
This year’s theme is Regenerate. If you were a speaker again what would you speak about?
I would talk about how as a society I really think we need to regenerate or recycle our views of what beauty actually is. Instead of focusing on what we think we’re supposed to think is beautiful, we should try to focus on what we actually DO find beautiful in each other and the world around us.
About the picture you submitted:
I’m currently working on a short film about body image and our perceptions of beauty and I’ve discovered that if I don’t try so hard to fit in to what I think society’s idea of beauty is and go by my own idea then I’m a lot happier with my artwork and life in general.
I have a background in creative english. This year is my first year volunteering for TedxKids@BC, hope there will be many more to come.
